Yup. You heard it right. As of June 4th, my first Phoenix Wright fanfic was finished.
At 23 chapters plus an epilogue and well over 200 pages (single-spaced), it's the biggest story I've ever done.
Believe me, I love the story to death, but I had a hard time with it.
Several things were edited because when I first began writing the story, I was an absolute novice to Phoenix Wright.
(Warning: MAJOR spoilers ahead! Don't read until you've finished "On The Edge" if you don't want the story ruined.)
A lot of ideas were rejected or improved in the long run such as:
1. Franziska was going to have an older brother named Magnus until I found out from Court Records that Franziska had a sister
2. Garnett and Diamond Berlitz were going to be ten years old instead of sixteen
3. Another Berlitz family member was going to be added the day after the first trial, but the idea was rejected since it would complicate the story heavily. I might bring her back in a different story, though, since I'm working on a story that details the history of the Berlitz twins right before their dad's murder
4. Sascha/Liese Schuetz was actually a last-minute character, if you can believe it. The original defense attorney for the State v.s. Berlitz case was actually going to be two half-siblings I designed for Franziska, Gabriele and Baldur, but the idea was scrapped when I took a great interest in Case 4 of Trials and Tribulations and fell head over heels in love with Mia and Diego (and the young Edgey too)
5. Franziska's pregnancy wasn't planned for the story until just before I submitted the third part of the story. I was sure people would be wary about the recklessness Miles and Franziska had in their sex life, especially since they never used any known form of protection once. The pregnancy soon became a great symbol not only of the love that they shared, but as a reminder to let go of the past for theirs and the baby's future
6. Speaking of the sex...this story was actually the first one I submitted that had any fairly explicit form of sexual content, probably because I never managed to find any Miles/Franziska lemons (stories with sexual content for you newbs). There were limes that were pretty good, sure, but nothing really satisfied me. I wanted the story to be fairly adult since most of the stories with this couple are cute, but not gritty enough. I am very bad at fluff (in my opinion) and I don't always think of love as some place with purple grass and yellow skies, but of an intense reward after a great struggle. This story was going to be sexual, but not completely reliant on the sex, and I think I managed to capture it somewhat
7. Original pairings...I was really weird on that subject since some OCs being paired with official characters can be awkward, but as the story went on, I did decide on two pairings: Pearl/Garnett (but because of her age, it's only resorted to him being nicer to her than anyone else) and Liese/Godot (I am a Mia/Diego fan, but with Mia being gone and Diego not quite himself, I went for pairing him with Liese) with a little smattering of Liese/Mia. I am debating between two possible pairings for Diamond, Trucy/Diamond or Klavier/Diamond (see, I don't completely hate yaoi, plus I think Klavier's a little bi-curious. Any ideas of what I should pick? Let me know and I might put it in a story.

8. The real murderer of Sard Berlitz was complicated as I had to play the situation in my head over and over depending on what Garnett had seen and when Diamond summoned Manfred. Marina was designed to be a complete and total bitch (I'll bet she and Morgan Fey were evil lesbian lovers in a past life
), doing everything she could to credit herself in some way. I was going to have Diamond do the murder while being possessed, but then that would still make him guilty, so I had Marina be the murderer by making the then possessed Sard end up stabbing himself over and over when she held his hands with her gloves
Oh, I also came up with Japanese names for my OCs just in case I put them in GS: KnH.
Garnett and Diamond Berlitz are Nagatsuchi Koryuu and Kongou (Translation: Nagatsuchi is "eternal earth" and references to their spiritual powers and one of the kanji brands on their chests. Koryuu is "garnet" and Kongou is "diamond")
Liese Schuetz is Kuromori Ran (Translation: Kuromori is "black forest," referencing to where she was "killed" by Manfred von Karma and Ran is "water lily," referencing when she was washed up in the Danube river)

I think I must be one of the first people to do a Miles/Franziska fic where there are lemons (I had five in mine
) mingled with a fairly good storyline.
My favorite chapters would have to be, per part:
Part I: Chapters 4, 5, and 7
Part II: Chapters 3, 4, and 6
Part III: Chapters 3, 7, and 8.1-2
My least favorite chapters would have to be, per part:
Part I: The first three chapters (I thought they were too incomplete)
Part II: Chapter 5 (re-reading it, I'm beginning to consider revising it)
Part III: Chapter 5 (I thought it was fairly weak)
Since I'm still debating about a side story, I'm open to any and all suggestions of the following things:

EDIT (June 10th): Ugh! I can't just leave this story unfinished, I realize, so I'm going to just have to begin the side story. It'll be two parts, the first in Franziska's point of view and the second in Miles' point of view, so open up and suggest something, okay?
I'm also going on vacation soon, so I won't be able to submit anything for a while, but I'll still be working and also trying to answer messages and give comments whenever I can.
